Awnings

awning-windowAn awning window is a casement window that is hung horizontally, hinged on top, so that it swings outward like an awning. Emilie Poisson designed this window.

Awning window - a cousin to the casement window. Where the casement is hinged on its side, the awning is hinged on top with the opening on the bottom. We recommend this style to be used in kitchens above sinks or work surfaces that make reaching to open a traditional style window difficult. As well Awning windows are very popular for small bathroom windows.  These can be opened for ventilation during any weather, while keeping rain or snow out. Sturdy hardware provides for many years of easy operation. Similarly to the casement window, when they are closed it looks like a fixed window, lending itself to be combined with others in a larger opening. This window is ideal for window openings where you want an unobstructed view of the outdoors.  Not only are awning windows practical they are very energy efficient.  Awning windows can be upgraded to triple glazing for impressive energy ratings.  Glass designs can be customized to offer style and privacy while offering natural light.
